It’s Purple and Green! – (Weekly Update 21/7/17)
This I hope is the first of many. I’m planning on doing weekly updates to keep up to date with my running , general things and of course the #amigurumicharityrun. So to steal from children’s stories let us begin. Those that follow me on other social media will know on Sunday that I fell and turned my ankle. Due to that I have been unable to run all week. As much as I feel as I am letting down the charities I am supporting I am just itching to get running again. You never realise how much you love a thing until you can’t do it. One annoying thing was that because I removed a significant amount of skin from my leg I couldn’t even go swimming as I had/have an open wound.
My right ankle and me have some history ever since I used to play rugby it has a habit of collapsing far more than normal. In the middle of a game some kind soul decided to stamp on the back of my Ankle and ever since then the Tendons and Ligaments have seemed to have been a little slack. Sunday’s fall seemed to have caused a worse sprain than normal. As a former Radiographer I have seen my share of Ankle injuries and X-rays and in my experience a lot of Sprains can look visually far worse than any fracture. My ankle was and is an example of this. After 5 days of not being able to run (and finding walking rather difficult) it is finally turning that rather lovely shade of green and purple. I am hopeful that I may be able to try running on Monday. I would love to finish out the month with some good running and some great Pictures of Captain America on the Challenge.
I have been following a Training plan which is pretty unusual for me but I wanted to see if I could stick with one and help get my long distances back (I will blog about this in the near future). So it’s been irritating that on week 3 of this plan I’ve had to have a week off. So the question is as always how do you jump back into your training plan. I found an interesting article that seemed to offer some good advice. So going on that advice if I’m running on Monday I will have a few easy days then a slightly shorter long run then I will repeat week 3 of my training plan. So I’ll see how that goes. The article is below if you are interested.
Hopefully next week I’ll have some better news on my Running. If you wish to know more about this years challenge the original post is HERE. All my social media connections are on the top left.
Have a good weekend. D
