After my dawntilldusk7project I was trying to think of my next goal. After a few months where I’ve struggled with consistency and may even have put on a few grams in weight it’s time to push again. So my first thought to me Christmas has many meanings from the Religious to the family. A large red truck from a multi national company is not the meaning of Christmas as someone suggested on Facebook. I went through many ideas for my Christmas running some I had to rule out due to logistics and the availability of Shepherds and Kings.
One of the most Iconic songs of this period is the 12 Days of Christmas. So I started mulling ideas around this. My original Idea was to run on those 12 days maybe I could carry a Partridge in a Pear Tree? The Lords a Leaping now they could be problematic. Then I thought 12 days huh that’s not much let’s do 12 miles everyday in December. So I was working this idea out and talking about this and the 12 days then the lightbulb hit me. The 12 Days of Christmas go through till the 6th January to quote Homer Simpson Doh!!. So looks like it’s now 37 days.
I am hoping to do the majority of runs very early in the morning (6am). As it doesn’t get light here until between 8:40am and just after 9am in December it looks like a lot of head torch running. I am hoping to fit in some trails though be it dropping home to split the run and changing shoes for part of a run or do an occasional later run. The official Traildog will accompany me on some runs either on the full distance or part of the run. I may need that Labrador encouragement.
So the final Plan is 12 miles (20k) a day outside for 37 days. The majority of runs will be a single run but if Weather or any other factors interfere I may have to split the runs. As always any chance of injury or Danger during this I will re-evaluate. I will post up at least one picture a day representing that run. Unlike my Dawntulldusk7project I will keep updates here a bit more consistent with updates here, on my new Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter. As always you can follow my antics on these places as well as Strava
As I’m posting pictures I would love to see what other people’s days are like through this period. I’m not expecting you all to do the same as me but if you would like to participate on certain days you don’t have to run 12 miles all you need to do is show me a picture that represents your day. Be it walking the dog or baking a cake (mm Cake) So either post it to my Facebook Page, or tag it in Instagram or twitter #37daysof12pictures or just send it to me and I’ll post it. I really do hope some of you participate as it would be great at the end to have collage of pictures from different parts of the world.
So tomorrow it begins ………
