Yesterday was National Running Day and surprise surprise I went for a run. I’m not sure who decided that it was National running day as there seems to be a day/week for anything. I’m pretty sure there must be a National Labrador’s playing Monopoly day (if not there should be).
Around about 6 weeks until my ultra so another 4 weeks of heavy mileage. I’m still struggling with the idea mentally that I am going to run 52 miles. All I can do is keep plugging the miles in and hope it all pays off. I should get another 30 miler in before the race. The theme of this month is hills there is going to be lots of hill sessions. The main hill in the Ultra course is a 3 mile long 800 foot climb that I will have to go over 4 times. So I’m hitting that hill hard this month to hopefully increase my leg strength and get used to climbing it on tired legs. My four legged training buddy will hopefully help me with some of this.
The other aim of this month is to get my equipment finalised and my nutrition dialled in because running 50 miles is in reality just an eating competition.
