Do Flies prefer Brandy or Single Malt?
Despite the continual injury issues I’m having I’m starting to plug in those miles. I’m trying to balance letting the ‘issues’ sort themselves and plugging in enough miles. Yesterday an early morning trail run treated me to some April snow at the summit. My pace is pretty slow but I’m trying not to worry about that at present. It’s trying to stop the voice in the back of your head telling you that you haven’t run that slow in years.
My second run of the day was a short 3-4 miles on the road. The weather was like a different month compared the morning. At the back of the run I started getting some issues with my foot again. I’ve now got the working theory that it may be related to the shoes I’m wearing for the road runs. I have several pairs but this issue seems to appear with one pair. I have some Arthritis issues in my big toe of that foot so I’m wondering if the drop on those shoes (which is bigger than most of my others) is causing those issues. So if I don’t wear them for a while and don’t get that issue it could be diagnosis by exclusion. I have the spectre of all these miles I need to put in and it’s difficult to get into a flow with all these niggling issues.
So I’m trying to video while I’m running. I want to show Mrs ‘ROE’ and anyone else who’s interested the routes I’m doing. It’s a little handheld HD camera about the size of a phone. The images are lovely the issue I have is making it steady enough so the viewpoint does not look like the viewpoint of a drunken fly. I need some tips I think and a lot more experimentation.
The rest of the week I’m going to stay on the trails and wear my new Slippers (INOV8 Race Ultra 290s – Review in the next few day). Now do Flies prefer brandy or single Malt?…
