Opinion is not Science
Your personal experience and opinion is not Science. I see this all the time I lost weight cutting out (place demon food group of choice) so that must what everyone needs to do. When I give my opinion on something I take into account my own bias I know I’m biased we all are. Just because the way I have lost weight and my choice of running and how I run works for me does not mean that will work for everyone.
There are many times people will make personal claims about Fitness and weight loss that stem from their own experience rather than from science. People can get evangelical about what works for them and this is suddenly the best way to do something, Sometimes when science appears that contradicts what they believe they decide that the science must be rubbish because hey it worked for them. Of course all Science is not created equal and results and scientific opinion are built on consensus and peer review. So we shouldn’t always except ‘studies’ a face value we should critically evaluate them (more on that in a later post)
Your personal experience and opinion is just that. It doesn’t mean it’s irrelevant or unimportant or we should totally ignore people’s opinions. I love hearing people’s opinions on things. I’ve asked a few people their opinion on certain running shoes recently but just because something works for them does not mean it’s right for me. Just always remember personal opinion and experience are just that.
