The Tea Egg
I’ve said before I think a lot when running. I don’t listen to music or wear an ipod (other devices are available). As I really hate things in my ears while running also if I want to be hermetically sealed from the environment I would be running inside on a treadmill while watching dodgy Television.
So all I hear is what goes on around me the traffic the sea the cows (yes I’m lucky to live where I am). Anyway as I was saying a lot of my thinking goes on as I’m either pounding the roads or the trails. A lot of these blog posts get composed then. I put together shopping lists and I get excited about things like the Tea Egg I just bought.
I have a very British liking for tea. I think Tea bags are a pointless step too far. I buy loose leaf tea not these new fangled tea bag things. I know that’s unusual as the majority of people just buy standard tea bags. When my in;laws visit they normally go to make some Tea then get a wee bit confused when they can’t find tea bags and have to use a tea pot with leaves. I’m lucky in the fact that my wife doesn’t drink either coffee or tea so I can just get the ones I want with out worrying what others will like.
Anyway I’ve always used a tea strainer of sorts to remove the leaves. I buy my Tea and Coffee online from Whittards normally so decided to treat myself to a Tea egg. It’s a small device that you put the Tea leaves in that sits in your cup or pot. If you use it in a cup once the tea has brewed you can just take it out (it floats). Obviously in a pot you’d just leave it but there would be no worrying about straining your tea.
I love it it does the job cleanly and is fantastic when your making a cup not a pot. So as I write this I’m enjoying a Sunday morning cup of Whittards Black leaf Tea blend. Weird the things we get excited about isn’t it?
N.B – I have a similar Obsession over my Coffee.
