Always bring the Weather with you ………..
Saturday night we had a lot of rain which meant by Sunday we had flooded roads and standing water everywhere. I made myself a promise when I started this process that was not to make excuses. To me the weather is an excuse. Unless it is physically dangerous there is no reason not to do what you normally do. So that’s what I did.
So yesterday I ran in the rain it was a lot of rain and at points I had to run through ankle deep water (which was bloody cold). Guess what I had a good time it was 5 miles of fun. Also there is nothing better than getting home having a hot shower and relaxing in what you have done while others have been sat there you have done something positive.
I live in the North of Scotland if I only ran on good weather days my running would be severely limited. Weather gives you the unpredictability to stress your body in slightly different ways. It’s not like the hermetically sealed envirnment of a gym and a treadmill it’s real life.
I’m not going to use the dark as an excuse either I’m awaiting my head torch to allow me to run more in the dark and in poor light. Our day light can be limited to 5 or 6 hours around the shortest day so I wont be using that as an excuse either. I’ve spent years making excuses and I wont do that again.
Remember there is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing choices.
